Our Story & Focus
It’s hard to believe that Chicago Sand Volleyball (CSV) was founded as recently as the summer of 2017. What started as a shared vision between lifelong friends—Alex Hurlburt and myself, Tim Maruyama—quickly grew into something special. In that first summer, CSV drew nearly 90 boys and 40 girls to our sand every single day. Even then, we were lucky to be surrounded by some of the best coaches and players in the Midwest.
Since those early days, CSV has grown into the strongest boys sand volleyball program in the country—and one of the premier programs for girls as well. Our athletes have medaled at the national level and consistently earn bids to championship events across the U.S.
In 2025, our focus is on refining that standard of excellence. We're investing deeply in coaching education and development to ensure our athletes continue to grow—technically, mentally, and competitively—into some of the nation’s finest.
